Decorate Your Bedroom Shabby Chic Style
Ah, how to decorate a shabby chic style bedroom, so so many possibilities!
Shabby chic bedrooms are typically girly, not always frilly, but girly. I say this because personally I like to use alot of pink and white with lace. I have a little boy so when I get the chance, I do it up!
My guest area
walls
are painted a very pale whisper pink, with black toile accents. The window is quite small, so to make it look more open, I hung an
antique salvaged window frame backed with a piece of glass mirror.
This is a great trick that works wonders in small spaces! I hung black toile
drape panels
on each side of the "window" to frame it. It turned out so cute, so shabby!

I also like to add collections of old, vintage hats hug together on a wall. Also here is where you can really display some great
old furniture pieces
you have from your grandmother's house. Also, remember this important point, open the possibilities to using pieces for other uses than what they are intended for. An old humidor is adorable as a side table. An antique stove is great used for kitchen storage.
Also keep in mind that the bed and bedding is best purchased new. Or just not antique. I must admit, bed pillows, mattresses and bedframes have come a long way for the better. Buy these items in new condition, please. There's nothing shabby about an 80 year old mattress of grandma's! But her old iron head and footrails, oh yes, shabby grandma!

Feel free to accessorize with old applique chenille quilts or vintage matellasse bedspreads at the foot of the bed. I know of some fabulous
online fabric retailers
that sell the most beautiful vintage fabrics. You can use these draped over anything that will stand still in your bedroom. Shabby Shabby Shabby! And quite reasonably priced.
Take a stroll through an antique shop and I guarantee you will be inspired to spread a little shabby chic magic in your
bedroom
or your guest room. Oh, and a great touch for a guest room... place an old make-up carrying case from the 60's on a nightstand and fill it with little toiletries and luxuries (and DON'T forget the chocolates!) for your overnight guests.
